I concur with pgpapas. I got my Mac Plus(es) much later. But I love the little box. I would take my Mac Plus to the Barnes and Noble and set it up in the coffee shop to do some work for school. I was typing straight text that I could take home and transfer to my Color Classic for formating and printing. The best part was I could carry my operating system on a floppy in my shirt pocket.
The Mac Plus--priceless! -----Original Message----- From: pgpapas <[email protected]> To: Vintage Macs <[email protected]> Sent: Tue, Mar 9, 2010 9:15 am Subject: Re: Mac Plus: What's it Worth? Whats it worth?Hmm...Well, I've still got my little beige number - my first Mac, purchased2nd hand back around 87ish. I was going to say I wouldn't sell it forless than double what I paid (that was $2000 with 80MB ext. HD, btw),but then again on 2nd thought - I know it all sounds like hyperbole, but at this point I really don't think I would let it go for anyprice.Call me nostalgic, romantic, whatever, but when you consider the factthat there's really no monetary "value" there, to me it seems silly tosell... especially if you've owned it since it was still on the market(ie functional and useful). Surely worth keeping, IMHO -- its valueas "art"/history/nostalgia/conversation piece/ hell even as just apiece of 'furniture' is worth far more than the pittance it wouldgarner at a sale of any kind.Nope, my Plus, SE30, and IIFX are happy right where they are - andthey'll be there for a long while... ;)(and I just checked - they still work too!)On Mar 2, 12:33 am, Nicolas Bradley <[email protected]> wrote:> I'd like to share a little story of a Mac rescue, and then ask a> question regarding the item : ).>> A while ago I saved a Mac Plus from a friend who was clearing their> attic, and I have to say I was quite taken aback by the set; one> platinum Mac Plus, 40mb external SCSI drive, platinum keyboard,> platinum mouse, instruction manual and of course original OS/utilities> disks in their paper wallet.
