hi;

sounds like the head lock piece is stuck.
if the LC has the original disk drive Quantum ProDrive ELS,
that seems to happen a lot.
sometimes it will 'free' itself.
I have had this happen to two Quantum drives, one on a SE and one on a LCIII.
and was lucky enough to have them load and work long enough to retrieve the
data before the drive died again.

good luck;

dale

I have a LC II that was mounting the HDD fine until now. I have booted via external drive and SCSI Probe shows the drive in the list but I can't mount it to run DiskWarrior or First Aid. The light on the HDD responds to attempts to mount but nothing other than that.

The HDD light works, but does the drive actually spin?
Have you tried mounting it on another machine?
Can diskWarrior be started from the external drive, how about disk
utility?

Hi Marc

The light flashes and the drive spins, I can boot from an external but First Aid and DiskWarrior don't see the drive. I have an app on the external named SCSI Probe that lists the drive but will not mount it. No I don't have another machine to test the drive in.
