Good suggestions. However, it might be a good idea to have a chat with your
insurer, first, to determine what they will and won't accept as documentation
for proof of value for older computer hardware; eBay prices can sometimes be
wildly disparate. Also, without knowing the exact model, configuration, and
condition of the Titanium Powerbook you had, it's difficult to say what it
would
cost to replace it.

Offhand, based on past Swap List posts, I'd say the PB 1400 would cost -up to-
$50 + shipping to replace (depending on the configuration and condition of the
one you had). If your insurer will accept LEM Swap offers as proof of
replacement cost, (?) you might want to write up a WTB ("Want to Buy") post for
the two laptops and submit it to the Swap List:

Apart from eBay, LEM Swap is about the only other venue I know of where you can
expect to find hardware that old up for sale on a more-or-less regular basis.

Speaking of eBay, it's not entirely unheard of for stolen goods to turn up
there. You might want to search the listings periodically over the next few
weeks because, well, you never know. ¬_¬

Best,

James Fraser
