One of these days I shall try this but I wouldn't mind if someone else tried it first.
Newer Mac's still have modems inside. The most apparent use is to support FAX but I suspect that they are really capable of handling good old serial communications with AT commands. The likes of old SE's all have RS 422 serial ports that can talk to good old 2400 baud modems which are all over the place. My old Hayes modems would talk to each other over a CAT 3 telephone pair with no dial-up support from a phone company. So why not plug the SE into a modem and address it with Zterm or something equivalent. Connect to the FAX port on a nice new Apple OS based on UNIX with an FTP daemon or even a terminal device that would allow data transfers? Does Apple tell where to find its FAX modem in /dev ?? -- -->A fine is a tax for doing wrong.
