1. Can I leave my Mac 7200/200 "on" all the time without shutting it off? ..............NO: it's a 7300/200 (not 7200/200 as wrongly stated above) 2. Is there any downside to that? Very important question - does it hurt to leave the computer on all the time - does that descrease the service life? 3. There is a sleep function on the menu on the Mac 7300/200 using system 7.6........when I click on sleep, the monitor goes to sleep but I can still hear the fan whirring in the box 4. Do the hard drives stop working when you select sleep? 5. It takes a long time to get it out of the sleep mode and bring the screen back up; I click on the keyboard or the mouse to wake it up 6. I am wondering if the sleep mode shuts off the hard drives? On my DELL PC using Windows XP there is a "stand by" function that shuts the computer down...and a little green light blinks on the front of the case. The monitor goes to sleep and it appears the computer is going to sleep and the hard drive stops spinning.......one wakes up the computer buy hitting the keyboard or clicking the mouse........... 7. So - do you think that MAC works the SAME WAY when choosing sleep mode? Anybody know these things? Bigclaim -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
