And AGAIN recall that HTML-based emails are not permitted on these
LEM lists. Many of us have been ignoring your previous postings
because of the glaringly horrible use of HTML, fonts, etc. If you
want the attention of the folx here, you're just going to have to
follow the rules.
Now I have joined more than one of these Mac lists
Good. Most of us are on many of the LEM lists. Most of the activity
(summer lull not withstanding) are on the G3-5-List.
including "BUY" and "FIX" (which is this one) and because there is
no Header in the subject line I have to open every e mail and look
at it to SEE where to save it (in the "FIX" folder or the "BUY"
folder).
Back in the day, when mailing lists were pushed via UUCP and then
later across ARPANET, in the aeon before The Internet, they were
unthreaded. So the list name was included in the subject field to
help people sort stuff.
That was THIRTY YEARS AGO.
Every Mac email client I've ever used has the ability to sort threads
by reference and to filter messages by headers, into various
mailboxes. So having the list name is TOTALLY unnecessary. See
Doug's reply.
Virtually every single Yahoo group in existence has an identifier in
the subject line before the message (and other entities follow that
standard as well such as google groups)
Well, I'm subscribed to a couple dozen yahoo groups, and about a
dozen google groups. I think maybe two of them have a name tag. So
your "virtually every single" is BS. Even most of my standard
mailing list subscriptions don't use tags.
Why is this such a difficulty to aide the receiver of these messages
to have something, ANYTHING commencing the subject line so one knows
where to SAVE the messages for later reading.
People are reluctant to revert to THIRTY YEAR OLD expired "standards".
and Why is it such a difficulty to get you to post your messages in plain text?
Why is it such a difficulty to get you to trim your posts properly?
Here's a sample of the emails I get on this address, "Digest
statement is the "message""
heh. Well, as to people that reply to digests and can't be bothered
to fix the subject line -- pfft. Just do what most of us do - hit
delete.
and there are examples of actual messages near the bottom. Picture
my e mail client window all listed down like this and then these
repair list e mails with no identifier.....very HARD to figure out
which is which and where to save them
If you sort the mailing lists into different mailboxes, you'll not
have the problem.
