RadioShack might still sell degaussing "guns", where it sends out a pulsing
electro-magnetic waves and ensures quality destruction of data, or just
throw the disks in a fire (please, don't, not very good for the Earth).

At the TV station I worked at, we wiped all data with the degaussing "guns"
'til those wore out. Works on all videotapes, soundtracks on certain types
of film, audiotapes, older memory cards (MicroDrives, MMCs), etc.

You can also leave the disks in pure sunlight (at least 8 hrs.), microwave
'em, throw 'em into bleach, put them into a bag and put 'em into a washer
then a dryer, etc.

Best bet is to degaussing 'em, then sell 'em in lots on eBay, Amazon, garage
sales, etc.
