RadioShack might still sell degaussing "guns", where it sends out a pulsing electro-magnetic waves and ensures quality destruction of data, or just throw the disks in a fire (please, don't, not very good for the Earth).
At the TV station I worked at, we wiped all data with the degaussing "guns" 'til those wore out.
