I just rescued a forgotten Plus from my parents' attic. I suspect that it's been untouched for at least fifteen years. I found most or all of its accessories, including a Photon 40 drive.
It powers on, with a lovely bright screen, and the mouse works; unfortunately, it won't get past the 'no system' flashing question mark. I get one beep on power on. If I turn it on without the Photon, it is otherwise completely silent; the Photon sounds like a jet taking off (I think I woke my roommate, oops) and flashes a green light for a brief second, then blinks a red light erratically. Memory suggests the light is supposed to stay green, but I'm not sure anymore. I suspect the external drive has died and that it's a model without an internal. Does that sound right to anyone else? And is there any real way to test that? I'm not completely averse to opening it, but I want to have some idea what might be going on first. -- The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. - Terry Pratchett ~*~*~*~LET'S GO CANES!~*~*~*~ -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
