Best is to open System Info and check what CD/DVD drive is
installed.
CD/DVD drives do not show up on disk utility unless media is in it.

listed
it will look like
700 mhz 40 gig hd 512 meg CDrom
dvd

what I'm looking for is the last item above. If you have a cdrom
drive
a dvd won't work in it. The early eMacs shipped w/ cdroms.
