Hello! To find the OS version, boot the computer. When the desktop has appeard, click (and hold) the mouse button and drag the cursor to 'About this Mac'. Now release the button and a dialog box should appear stating the type of Mac, System version (System is the operating system) and memory used. Hope this helps!
