Just in case someone reading this decides to go the "Blue Cube" (Ziotek) route:
depending on the configuration of your USB ports, you might want to pick up a
short USB extension cable, first.

I say this because the bulky form factor of the Blue Cube means that if you
have
two USB ports, and they are stacked one on top of the other (e.g. the PowerBook
Pismo), plugging in a Blue Cube will block the second port. In fact, it might
still block the second port even if your USB ports are laid out side-by-side
like on the [very bad word expunged] iBook I'm typing this on.

The point being that picking up a short extension cable might save an end user
from having to mess with hot-swapping USB devices because they decided to make
use of a Blue Cube. ¬_¬

>I'm not sure what the power-draw of an AEKII is,

I don't know, either, but perhaps someone reading this does (hint, hint). It's
the sort of thing that, like the iMate CR1225/CR2032 battery hack (a hack that,
incidentally, I'd be thrilled to gawp at while someone else performs it), is
just good to know.

But yeah, now that you've mentioned it, I don't recall ever seeing anyone make
reference to either the AEK's or AEKII's power draw. It's interesting to note
that the ADB "required devices to use only 100 mA each," so perhaps the AEK I
and II are not that far behind the Model M when it comes to power consumption
after all?

The former only.

Do you have a Model M currently on hand so you can compare 'n contrast it with
ADB keyboards?

Best,

James Fraser
