Using the G5 I believe is okay as long as it runs OSX 10.5.x or below and you format the drive using the Non Journaled, non case-sensitive standard format. You'll probably have to install OS9 Drivers for the drive, and depending on what OS your planning to run, it may or may not work with the OS9 drivers. That being said, formatting if I remember, doesn't take that long regardless of drive size, unless you select the write zeros to drive checkbox, then it will take a eternity to complete. I put a 80GB drive in my 1400c too which worked out well, and formatted it under 8.6. I'd recommend using the actual OS and machine your installing the drive into to save complications later if the OSX formatting process/scheme doesnt end up working. -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
