Hello Keith,
Further to thelast bit of news, I re-read The Dead Mac Scrolls and came across
a possible cause of the growling, in that the Dove board was not seated
properly onto the motherboard. Having put that right it then worked. However
when I came to shut down the floppy would no eject an made a continuous skiek.
I swiftly turned off the power, dismantled the thing and examined the floppy
drive.
I got it all together to find that the floppy drive did not sound happy
and there were vertical stripes on the screen. With the drive totally
disconnected there are still stripes.
Do you reckon you could help? Have you a working 800k drive?
Alistair.
