Hello, I am trying to restore my Mac IIci and have run into a problem with the replacement hard drive.
I found an exact match for the Quantum Prodrive 105Mb drive the machine started with, when I tried to format the drive with my Allied Peripherals Boot floppy that came with my original drive, the utility does not recognize the new drive. Also, the drive ID information the utility displays is scrambled with garbage characters. The new drive was pulled from a non Apple system, although should I be able to use any SCSI drive of that vintage? I have MacDrive so I can read/write Mac floppies and hard drives from a windows machine, are there boot floppies with tools to format the drive? -- -- ----- You received this message because you are a member of the Vintage Macs group.
