So, I should (could) try to repeat the procedure, and try to install 5.0 on
the rather recalcitrant iBook thru the use of the (half-dead) PowerBook?
Reminds me of how I got High Sierra onto the disk that would not boot,
because (I found out later) a defunct HD cable? With the use of a "disk
driver" (power & USB) that allowed the disk to hook up to my Mini, so I
could format it & put in a new System & restore from backup?
:)
Should I then stick the 5.0-disk in the PB or the iB? I mean, it runs 5.x
from the PB thru FireWire. Weird seeing that olllld start-up-screen… :)
But, as mentioned before, it flat out refuses to boot from the DVD/CD. Hm.
I haven’t tried that "startup disk"-thingy in System Prefs on that, yet…
Stay tuned!
