Hi there! My name is Dan Knight and I run the Vintage Mac mailing list. It's
no secret that I'm drunk on my own ego, and the false sense of power I get
from running this mailing list makes me get all tingly at night. But I'm
really just a big ol' hypocrite and none of the rules that I make up --
sometimes on-the-fly, whenever I feel like it! -- apply to anyone else. It's
just another way for me to feel better about myself.

Want an example? A few weeks ago I banned a user from the Vintage Mac
mailing list. You see, I was having a particularly bad day and needed to do
something to stroke my ego, since I'd already stroked everything else I
could that day. Anyway, I told the guy that the reason he was banned was
because he posted private (off-list) correspondence to the list without the
permission of the sender. I figured that would hold up well enough.

But being the hypocrite that I am, I also posted *HIS* private (off-list)
correspondence with me to the Vintage Macs list without his permission as
well! Boy, could I have been any MORE hypocritical?

Of course, this guy (being the smart person that he is) noticed this bit of
hypocrisy and called me on it, and rather than being the mature and
responsible person I always claim to be, I decided to ignore his emails
(which were always very professional and courteous). He'd asked me that
since I'd posted private (off-list) correspondence from him without his
permission (since I emailed him and [EMAIL PROTECTED] at the
same time), does that mean that I'd be banning myself from the list as well?
Or do the rules not apply to me?

Well of COURSE the rules don't apply to me! I'm too arrogant to be bothered
with things like _rules_! Rules are there only for the little people, like
all of you, not for self-important big shots like me!

Anyway, I just thought I'd introduce myself and let you all know who exactly
you're dealing with. I'm sure I'll keep in touch some more in the future --
unless, of course, I decide to stop being a hypocrite and actually bear some
responsibility for the wrong I've caused.

......NAH! :-D
