Oh yeah, that was fun. Helping dad pull tubes out
of the old console color TV and taking them all
down to the hardware store to see which ones were
bad or "iffy". A television used to be considered
a piece of furniture by itself, usually in a fine
furniture grade varnished wood cabinet with folding,
sliding or tambour doors. My dad liked theirs so
much he gutted the two identical cabinets, sawed
the legs off one, stacked them and put a new
"plastic fantastic" 25" stereo TV in the top one
with the VCR and satellite boxes in the bottom.
