the Motorola 6800 series of cpu came out in the 80's i think. i had a real
job as a EE. i used the 6800 in a Masscomp SuperM icro and in HP 7000 Risc
systems i think. its been a while. in beilieve the Fortune computers used
the 6800 also. all were UNIX machine of course. about that same time PCs
were breaking into industry also. i remember 286 8khz to 386 50khz PCs
also.
