When using a hard drive not from or for Apples, the Apple formatting
software won't always format the drive. A third-party formatter like
Lido 7.56, Micronet SCSI Utility or APS Utility will work much of the
time.

These are available on the Internet as free or trial-basis downloads.
Just search by the names above to find site s from which to download.
