I think what we have here is a case of mass misunderstanding.
Deven says system 7.1 is best for any Mac with '020 or lower - thus, '020 or
68000. Marten's saying that no, system 6 is usually best for 68000 and 68020
Macs. (I would agree, although I have run 7.1 on an LC with 10MB and it
wasn't that bad.) Deven misinterprets Marten's, um, colorful response to
mean that these Macs should run *above* 7.1, not below 7.1. I think maybe
Deven made a mistake in his original message, judging from his response to
Marten, and the fact that the topic was about a Performa 575... Deven, did
you mean you think 7.1 is best for '020 or *higer* ('030, '040) Macs?
I could be a professional mediator. :)
That is, assuming my interpretation of the situation is actually right!
