Yes, you can chip this processor. You will need to a) Replace the oscillator,
or, try my idea. [ I can't leave overclockable chips alone either! :D ]
I do not know the speed of the oscillator, but you can try buying a MicroMac
Speedy Variable Speed Oscillator, or build one yourself. This way you can
change the speed to find the correct mark between slow and stable and fast
and unreliable, so that it suits you just right. I am not experienced in
soldering either and I wouldn't want to take the risk on such a rare card as
the Daystar 601-66. I'm going to be giving this a shot on my Turbo 040-40mhz
card. I'll post my findings once I get a chance to do the speedup.
Unfortunately, the tragedy here in the US has halted all air traffic in and
out of the nation, so I will not be recieving my Speedy for a while yet,
maybe a week or so. I'll try to get back to you once I know conclusively if
it works on the Turbo 040-40 card. If it does it may work on your card,
assuming the Speedy has a high enough frequency setting to make a difference
on your card.
Hope this helps, contact me if you have any questions.

to chip the card to run at 90 MHz - sounds mighty good to me...!
I have no electronics soldering experience, and I'm reluctant to
undertake this kind of project until I've had quite a bit of practice.
Is anyone willing to negotiate a swap in exchange for doing the o/c work
for me? Drop me a line, let me know what kind of stuff you're looking
for - maybe we can work something out. >>
