This is a vent on a computer related subject. Ditch it if you are busy. I
just put together a PC set up in this manner. A guy gave me a 486 box and
keyboard if I would haul it away. I found a Samsung SyncN monitor in a nest
of 3 sitting curbside waiting for the trash man. I swiped a pair of
headphones from American Airlines. I gave $0.11 for a real dumb looking
mouse. It all works. Has Winders 3.1.1 for Workstations and a bunch of
crapola in it. I think it has two HD's but I'm too non PC to figgure it
out. 16 mgs of ram. Modem. red and yellow out jacks off a card for sound,
I guess. Cd player. You can listen to music of the Quick CD through the
American Airlines headphones. 5" and 3.5" floppys. And some kind of
cartridge drive that says 120mg in the faceplate. ( Whutizit?) Geez. This
old box will do more than most people *need* to do and it was all in all not
worth the labor to lift it. Litterally. Something is really wrong with an
economy that produces in this manner. Watch out. We have an *information*
economy. Information about what? So far the technology revolution has as
its main product *toys* and telephones. Telephones to talk to each other
aout our toys. Something's coming. If that wasn't it last Tuesday.
Something's coming. I'm a little nervous.
All the best,
R. A. Cantrell
