1. Know how to solder? That fine detail? And do that on 304 pins?
Change a resistor on regulator to decrease core voltage. Then have
to split few pins (about 30 pins in total) apart fed by 5V for I/O
power according to documentation by motorola.
2. Done already and have shirt for that w/ PPC 601 100 on 7100
logic board. No go, still have to debug some more.
So to keep misery coming to your mind, simply don't. Get a PCI Mac
instead. Much better than the old nubus stuff and more choices w/
hardware and some of them can handle IDE drives directly and more
powerful and expandable than before.
BTW, 601 is much like old 5V pentium 66 MHz saddled w/ old crankerous
chipset, no IDE onboard (many were like that) where super socket 7
and pentium 233mmx is to 604 w/ newer board.
