I've a cx that did the same thing.  Seems there is a component on the
mobo in the power-up circuit that has died--it's a long slow death-- but
damned if I can find it.  It's really difficult to trace out the
power-up circuit, because it wanders all over the back edge of the
board.  One of my IIci's does just the opposite--regardless of switch
position--about five seconds after plugging it in, it powers up.  A
different component has died?
