For some eight years now I have been using the SE30 with 8MB of RAM and a
full page Radius pivot monitor for which I have installed the appropriate
card. This proved an excellent arrangement since I use the computer
exclusively for writing with Nisus. THE SE30 runs under Hebrew system 7.0.1
inasmuch as some valuable, but alas discontinued, linguistic Hebrew
software do not properly run on latter systems. Recently my files became
bigger and I first resorted to RAM-doubler, giving me some 13MB of memory,
then I decided to install extra RAM. In fact, I upgraded the memory to
32MB(8X4MB) and activated the MODE32 control panel and the memory panel. I
satisfied myself that the machine sees all the RAM and that the system is
confined to its usual size. But when I connect the monitor the pointer
freezes on the screen. To unlock the pointer I must disable MODE32. The
SE30 is dear to me and I need a full page monitor. Is there a fix to this
problem? Is replacing the SE30 ROM by a MAC IIsi ROM a cure? Also, if the
price of more memory is abandoning the SE30 and replacing it by, say, a MAC
IIcx or a MAC IIsi, which still operate under system 7.0.1, can the Radius
pivot be used with one of these machines? What video card would I need? I
would greatly appreciate any information on this. Isaac Fried
