I've fixed scratches on audio CDs by first sanding them out with 600 grit sandpaper, then rubbing the area with silver polish until it was shinny and clear again. They also make kits for this. Will this method work on a monitor screen? Dunno but I think I would want to try it on a dead one first. It takes A LOT of rubbing on a CD.
