Hello,
I just got two nubus ethernet cards for the IIci, but I am having some
problems.
I am trying to fileshare with my PBG4, running 9.2.1.
The IIci is running System 7.1.1. It has open transport 1.1.2. The file
sharing, network and appleshare extensions, and the sharing and user &
groups control panel are from 7.1.1. The Chooser and Appletalk control
panel are from the Open Transport.
Both machines have filesharing active with permissions set to read/write
in their control panels and the drives.
One card is '90 Asante which seems to work. It seems a little slow but
I think it's the IIci being an 030. I can mount the IIci drive on the PBG4
with the chooser, but the network browser crashes when trying to mount.
Likewise the IIci chooser crashes when trying to mount the PBG4. The '90
Asante has unlabled l.e.d.s that light. Amber for link and green for
active.
The other card, a '94 Asante, I can't get to work at all. It has a
green lit l.e.d. that seems to mean active. It has a second "hole" that
doesn't light.
I have tried switching the ethernet cards between slots 2 and 3 with the
same results. Could this be a hfs+ conflict? Does 9.2.1 not like 7.1? Is
the '94 Asante just bad? Do I need newer filesharing support to work with
the Open Transport? Should I haul the IIci into the room with my hfs format
6100?
Incidently the 6100/240sonnet/8.6 fileshares great with the PBG4 and the
same X-over cable as used with IIci.
Any ideas are appreciated.
