This has been THE biggest problem with the Mac OS
since day 1 - a memory leak. You have to quit the apps
in the order they were launched and even THAT doesn't
guarantee that you'll get your memory back. That's
also why the Mac crashes so often. Thankfully OS X
finally solved that problem.

I reboot whenever I get a cup of coffee go pee which
is about 3x a day. It's the ONLY 100% guaranteed
remedy other than going to Mac OS X of course.
