First of all, if this is the wrong list to post a printing problem to, please email directly where I should go. I've been to fixyourownprinter.com with no help. No one there answers my posts.
A used Personal LaserWriter NTR that I just got will print okay from LC475/OS8.1 and Color Classic with 550 board/OS7.5.5. Software driver is Laserwriter 8. The problem is that all pages are dark, not real dark, but the page is sort of grey. I tried the LW utility to adjust it but all the options are shaded out. The switch setting on the back is set to "0". I am using a regular printer cable connecting directly from either of the two macs' printer ports with no problem. Also, I removed the toner cartridge and carefully wiped off the toner "dust" on the green roller. Didn't help. Same output: grey page with printed file/document. I have printed about 40 pages with no improvement. The LW utility says the page count is 8717. Don't know when the cartridge was changed last, and I don't have a replacement one to try. Anyone had any experience with this model printing off of an LC475 or CC550 Mac (straining to keep this on topic)? Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
