If you can dig up the jumper settings, see if the
drive has an option to wait for a start command
from the host. Macs don't send start commands from
their built in SCSI. Some drives also have an option
to automatically delay startup by the number of
seconds
matching their SCSI ID number. That doesn't work
for Macs either. Drives must be running and ready
before the Mac starts bootup or they won't be
mounted. (Most removables will work without a driver
if there's a Mac formatted disk inserted before
the Mac is turned on.)
