I finally made a path over in the next room to my old 9600 which in yet 
another embarrassingly long "Senior Moment" had totally slipped from my 
mind. Hooked 'er up, and she spun up fine after I removed the Power On 
jumper (or whatever it's called). Turns out the drive contains only a 7.5 
System folder and no goodies. It also has fatal bad blocks (DiskDoctor). 
If anyone's interested in having this for the cost of shipping, let me 
know offlist and I'll try reformatting it. Otherwise, it's trash.
