I don't recognize either the Mustek or General Instruments parts but sorry, this doesn't sound like a LocalTalk card to me. I did see one of these once upon a time but don't remember the details. AFAIK the earliest versions used the same basic hardware as the serial ports on a Mac. Zilog 8530 Dual Serial Interface 26LS30 Differential Line driver 26LS32 Differential Receiver The 8530 or a variant is pretty much required for LocalTalk, it implements part of the protocol in hardware. In later Macs it's functions are integrated with other devices into a custom chip. For a card that is only doing LocalTalk such integration is pointless. The 26LS chips provide the electrical interface to the line and could be replaced with other devices, especially on a card only doing LocalTalk. -- Clark Martin Redwood City, CA, USA Macintosh / Internet Consulting [EMAIL PROTECTED] "I'm a designated driver on the Information Super Highway" -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
