That's interesting.  So, halfway through bootup, the ROM decides it 
isn't the "wrong" machine but the "right" one?

Well, if I had a ROM I'd try it.  And I bet the ResEdit hacking would 
give me pause. :)  I'm still a little afraid of what's "under the 
covers" on the Mac.  I know what's going on underneath Unix, but Macs 
are another story for me.  And no, I won't even attempt to look "under 
the covers" of a Windows box. ;)
