I dug up some more, and it seems that the above is wrong. All three to GND stands for 21" RGB. More likely: Plain 640x480 VGA needs 'extended sense pin code 23': connect 7 to 10, nothing to ground. 640x480 VGA on a 17" Mac Multiscan monitor needs 'extended sense pin code 11': a diode pointing from 7 to 10, and pin 4 to ground. For the diode, a 1N4148 or even a plain 1N4001 will do. My final conclusion about Multiscan: All these sense pin arangements are meant to tell the Mac what's hooked up to it. The Mac then starts transmitting the right video data for that. Receiving this data, the Multiscan in turn is smart enough to figure out what the Mac assumes as mon. type. Hm.
