I've been inside the box (tightened a monitor too tight, when I went to loosen it, the backing screw fell off).
I am not using one of the switches. I've always wondered if I could snip a wire or two? Anyway, I think I am going to wait unti I get that 475 that I paid for yesterday, see if this will help out my situation. And, if I am still having problems with the switch box, I will ask my friend (who will be doing the work) if it's advisable to create such a Y-Adaptor. Thinking outloud here...maybe I can create this Y-adaptor using a toggle switch (again I have no idea what I am talking about...it sounds good)? > So, Steven knows it works.
