Does your router have any setup to configure the
port(s)? Some of them you can just enter their IP into
a web browser or use a telnet app to get into the
setup. Some (like Linksys ones) have a special setup
app, but only for Windows. Of course to twiddle
the router setup you need a working link to it. ;)

Also try cascading a hub off the router then connect
the IIci to the hub and see what happens. The Asante
NIC will be running 10-BaseT, half duplex. Some Asante
NuBus and LC NICs do not send the proper data for
autodetecting hubs, switches and routers to configure
the port.
