I guess this now technically off topic. I have a Color
Classic Mystic. =^) The procedure so far rather easier than I had
anticipated. Planned work isn't over yet for the CCM, but technically
it is a Mystic now. I've powered it up and played a little Marathon II
on it. Current to-do on it:
- Replace the HD, the original 80MB is in there, but I have the 250MB that
came from the machine that donated the 575 board. That'll do until I come
upon a bigger drive for cheap.
- Install System 7.1. The 7.5 folder that ran the CC before is still in
there. Maybe see how it handles a Japanese Language Kit too.
- Make a new back panel. Have the one from the 575, though I seem to
recall reading somewhere of someone selling special back panels for
Mystics? (will have to go digging through the files again.)
- Look into the capacitor to widen the screen...need to learn how to read
the little markings.
- Maybe replace the power LED with some other color.
- Look into getting a 68040 to replace the 68LC040.
- Plug in my Sonnet Presto and have a DUAL '40 MAC!
- or not.
- Install Marathon. =^)
- Finish up my mouse mod, took inspiration from one of the simpler
projects at <http://www.metku.net>.
Tip: While shopping for the tools to adjust the screen, I found at
the local Radio Shack on clearance a "TV Alignment Tool Kit" (Cat no.
64-2220B). $1.97 gets you 5 plastic adjustment tools and a geeky vinyl
pocket protector to store them in.
