Hi everybody! I got a Raster Ops NuBus card the other day and thought I'd give it a shot. It's a 12" card so the Mac for it was my beloved IIci. This Mac has 64MB of RAM, the Cache Card, an Asante MAcCon ethernet card, was using an Apple Mac Display Card (I think it's 8024 but I'm not positive...I'll have to find out for sure), and she runs 7.1 with RAM double 2. This is my Photoshop/Illustrator Mac and it has always worked for me. I have two monitors hooked up (both are 15" MultiScan Displays), and external 2gig HD (SCSI) Dueci has been working perfectly since I resolved a RAM issue with help from this list a couple of months ago.
1st off, after unplugging the power cord and grounding myself,I plugged in the RasterOps card (after pulling the Apple Vid Card) and hooked up a display..At the 1st power up I go tthe chime of death and no screen (the Duecie sometime takes about 20 seconds to kick the monitor on anyway) So I pulled the raster card, hooked up to onbaord video, power up to another chime of death. I thought that maybe the NuBus port was funky, so I plugged my Apple card back into a different NuBus slot, powered up: chime of death. I thought; ok, maybe my RAM is being funny again? So I pulled everything out except the 32Mb in bank A. Left Apple vid card in, powered up and BINGO it booted. Now I had only 32Mb of RAM (64 w/RAM doubler) and that is not enough. Powered back down and tried to put back the RAM I had pulled, starting with the second bank and a matching set for another 32megs. Chime of death. It will boot with any of my RAM sticks in Bank A only...with or without the Apple Vid card. When booted with the Raster Ops card, I get a jumbled screen, so I gave up on that card (maybe it's shot, i dunno). Any attempt to put RAM in any of the other banks gets me a chime of death. I'm perplexed; it was working fine before I put that Rasterops card in there...What Happened?!?! thanks for any help! J>T> -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
