A while ago, there was discussion on either the compact or vintage list
about mac,com filtering out normal mail as being spam, without notifying
anybody about it.

In 'today's issue of Apple eNews', I read: [quote]

1. Coming Attractions: Mail

Junk mail. Like the weather, everyone complains about junk mail.

But we've actually done something about it.

We've made Mail smart. It learns. Thanks to sophisticated mail
filtering technology--adaptive latent semantic analysis, to be
exact--Mac OS X Mail learns what you consider to be junk email. And
after an initial training period, you can tell Mail what to do
with your junk email.

Mark it as junk and leave it in your inbox. File it in a folder. Or
delete it as soon as it's received.

And that's just one of the many new features that are part of the
improved Mail program coming your way in Jaguar, Mac OS X v10.2. [end of quote]

Did they actually improve on their procedures, or is this just a blurry
talk about the mentioned practice?
