Apple NuBus NICS are AAUI - Asante MacCon NICs are UTP RJ45. I have 2 
Asante's and 3 Apple cards.

The NuBus card *might* be a better idea. Comaring  my SE/30 (50MHz 
030) and my IIci (25MHz 030) with PDS and NuBus NICs respectively I 
find the SE/30 a bit slow and less reliable than the IIci.

I'd say that was about right. The PDS-NuBus adapter is likely 
slightly harder to find if anything.
