I have several ADB KVM boxes in use. One keyboard, monitor and TurboMouse controls all. Yes, you can't boot all of the machines at the same time. But how often would or why would you need to do this? No, there are no ill effects from switching AFTER the Mac has been booted. It then figures it has a monitor connected, even if it doesn't.
Otherwise all I can say is that they work great. Coming up with high quality old school Mac style video cables (Mac connector can be a trick. The ADB KVM boxes generally have both a VGA and old Mac monitor input connection and ADB cables are easy or can be substituted with SVGA cables. Matter of fact, I need two more. The 3 port ones are pretty easy to find but I'm looking for more of the 4 port boxes. IIfx (mailserver), 2 Iicx (mailserver and A/UX 3.0.2 boxes), 2 Performa 475 w/ full 040 and clock chipped to 33Mhz (DNS boxes), Workgroup Server 60 running WGS 95 A/UX 3.1.1, Quadra 650 running WGS A/UX 3.1.1 and some UMAX s900 all controlled with only 2 KVM setups.
