-- At this point I don't remember if I pulled those 2 specific prefs--I did pull the finder and some others individually. Then in order to know if pulling any of the prefs would make a difference I put the entire folder on the desktop. It did not stop the "restart without the shift key crash". I also checked the system folder for loose extensions and found one, the "finder scripting extension, which I pulled along with the cp and extension folder again. Still could only startup with shift key down. Uhmm, I just thought (sometimes I'm slow) to pull the external drive and attach it to another computer. I only have 9.1 on my other machine but I should be able to put DiskWarrier and Norton on the case and see if the system is repairable. Talk to you all later.
