I just got a second Iisi case (dang it Outlook! Stop un-capitalizing the
second I! Darn microsoft and its embedded wackiness..:) and I am
hypothesizing on how I will set them up similar to the Quadra 805 (see
flat pack macs) with possibly a CD ROM addition (I picked up what was
labeled to be an external CD150, but it had a tray load drive in the
case, so I'm suspecting it was upgraded to a faster drive... For $1!)
and a new power supply.
Problem is, I want to maximize the amount of internal space available; I
want to remove the Iisi's stock PS. My question would be: Does the MoBo
actually do anything with that 5V trickle (besides give it to the ADB
controller which sends the proper signal to boot once that pin is
shorted)?
I have a 200W atx PS; it probably doesn't provide the trickle. I was
thinking just rewire the atx cables to correspond with the pins on the
MoBo, would the Iisi still "hard boot" from a sudden power input from
turning the atx PS on? i.e. if the "always on" switch is on?

Also, does anyone know if Apple's 40, 80, 160 etc MB HD's have
termination jumpers or resistors (also ID jumpers)? Where on the drive?
I also have a quantum "105" drive - apparently 100MB formatted. I don't
see the little "<apple logo> 100" sticker on it (all my other Apple
drives have them). It seems physically similar to Apple's other drives,
a Quantum. Just wondering. It came with my "live" Iisi. The "dead" Iisi
(which is kindly donating its case and drive mounting hardware) was
without its ROM SIMM - apparently someone pulled it, as it has no
soldered ROMS.

I hear people putting 8*24*GC's in Iisi's -- does that mean that there
is an adapter that turns the PDS into a NuBus? Does it have a pass-thru?
Theoretically I could put up to 7 (confirm?) NuBus cards in my expanded
Iisi, then, right?
Hmmm... How many GC's do you think I can purchase before I go broke or
suffer from "losing bidder syndrome"...
Then I have to think about the PS load. The 200W atx will probably give
enough juice to run said # of cards, but would the MoBo "accept" enough
of it to ration it out?

Mmmmm... Duct tape.... "Duct tape is a lot like the Force. It has a
light side, it has a dark side, and it holds the universe (and hacked
Macs) together"...

Oh, and if you're going to reply, only cite the part you're replying to.
I tend to be a *bit* wordy when I'm sleep-deprived (and pensive about an
upcoming AP History exam.... Sleep good... <startle>Aahh!!!</startle>
Sleeeep.....
