I have just put a 10bT hub upstairs so I can get some connectivity
going. When my IIci is connected to the hub is connected to the router
is connected to the PC and cable modem, the IIci can see the PC MacLAN
shared volume and also print to the PC's inkjet via GhostScript. But
when I launch WannaBe and type a URL, WannaBe freezes and I have to
force quit it to regain control of my Mac. Same exact sympotoms with
iCab. When I connect the IIci directly to the router, WannaBe and iCab
both work again and the chooser stays the same (sees all). No matter hub
or direct, the localtalk bridge from my IIci to my Classic functions,
and the Classic can sent PostScript to the inkjet. Any ideas on why the
hub is causing my browsers to freeze but allows more than 60%
utilization when copying files in the Finder?

Freeze:
CableModem==Router==PC
              \
              Hub==IIci--Classic

No Freeze:
CableModem==Router==PC
              \
              IIci--Classic

The hub is a kingston 8TP/SE. it has 8 RJ-45's and one BNC. The IIci is
using a farallon etherwave card, and it is connecting to the hub via the
"lower" port of the NuBus card, and the cable from IIci to hub is a
crossover. The hub is straight-thru to the router.
If I use the "direct" route, which works, the crossover cable is still
connected to the lower port but is coupled by a strait-thru female cable
extender to another strait-thru cable to the router. Help!
