Try them and see.  I think the card senses the monitor.  If the 
monitor isn't set up to provide the sensing lines with the correct 
info, the control panel won't give you all the options the card is 
capable of.  A monitor adaptor might be able to help here by 
providing the sensor line with info that simulates other a monitor 
with various resolution and color capabilities.
