I saw an article on the LEM site about SCSI Manager 4.3. Apparently the Centris 610 was the first Mac to have it in ROM. There was a little error in it where the name in ROM was SCSIManager, missing the space. The Quadra 610 and all later Macs with it in ROM had the space. That little "oops" caused a problem with specific versions of some disk utilities on the Centris 610. Supposedly, the SCSI Manager 4.3 extention will be installed on 040 Macs (maybe 030 ones too?) by System 7.5 if it's not in ROM. 7.5.x (dunno if it's 7.5.1 or 7.5.2 and up) integrate SCSI Manager 4.3 into the System file when installed "For Any Mac" or when installing for a specific 040 (or 030?) that doesn't have it in ROM. The DayStar Turbo 601 (dunno about the Turbo 040) has SCSI Manager 4.3 in its ROM, but I've never ever gotten any application that requires it to believe it. :P It can be disabled with the Turbo 601 control panel. I tried installing 7.5.5 and 7.6.1 with SCSI Manager 4.3 enabled and disabled on the Turbo 601. Never made a difference. SCSI Probe 5.x always insisted it wasn't present. ===== "Truth is, after all, a stronger edifice than a lie. An empire may be built on lies, but it only takes a single truth to crumble it."
