I regularly visit the Salvation Army "as is" store in Waukegan Illinois
(hometown of Jack Benny), and I have "my guy" who usually gives me pretty
good deals on stuff. My best find so far is a working NeXtcube for $40.

My "guy" has been made manager and decided to unload all the picked-over
junk. And I mean junk. Old bicycles piled high. There are maybe 5-7 large
dumpsters loaded with the dregs of unwanted crap. I happened to stop in
Saturday and he told me that after Friday all of the computer stuff was
joining the unmarked graves outside.

I went in today, and they had already loaded 2/3 of the non-Apple stuff in
the dumpsters. I'm talking all kinds of old PCs and word processors. Tons of
monitors and printers. Miles of unknown cables.

But true to his word my "guy" had a lonely corner set up for me. Most of
this stuff I had picked through, but I couldn't see it dumped
unceremoniously into the chute. So, for $25, I packed 2 loads into my
Roadmaster (thank heaven for my land yacht), and I got everything except 4
12" RGB monitors. This is what I got (I took inventory as I unloaded, and
my back is very sore.)
