Nope, never will happen. Not enough CPU number
crunching ability. Divx is a variant of MPEG4, which
requires quite a bit more "oomph" than MPEG2, which
needs a faster CPU than MPEG1 to decode. The codecs
keep getting better to produce smaller files with
the same visual quality. The effect is that to decode
the video takes a lot more CPU operations per second.
The 68k CPUs just can't handle that.

There is a bare bones 68k MP3 player that's fairly
well optimized, but even then you really need a Quadra
840 AV or a Quadra 950 for the best performance.
Don't have a URL handy for it. Some older version of
SoundApp would play MP3, after spendng several
minutes converting it to AIFF in memory. Then it
would play. If you paused or stopped, SoundApp would
flush the buffer and to play it again you'd have to
wait all over again.
