I think there's something awry in your file mapping assignments. Doublecheck what's assigned to what in PC Exchange and InternetConfig or whatever. There's a glitch somewhere in there or with their prefs files. At the very least, I would delete whatever current StuffIt prefs there may be, then install a fresh Expander--after restarting with all extensions off--then set Expander's prefs, restart again, rebuild the desktop file and proceed. Expander 5.5 runs more smoothly than 5 and it does open earlier Aladdin archives. (StuffIt 5.5, 5.1, and 5.0 all have the same file Type/Creator codes I believe.)
