yes indeedy, that's the card. so if it ain't ethernet, i'm supposing it's meant to support some flava of appletalk only. the next question would be: what inexpensive ethernet card should i be looking for? obviously, something that works innately with the OS would be nice. re: the OS, there seems to be a schism between the system 6ers and 7ers, as to which is better on the older Macs. given my desire to mainly make this a web server (and to do so for nearly no cash outlay), which is the path to take? the following qualifiers are important: 1. "free" OS 2. ease of setup 3. stable 4. cheap network card 5. standard IP functions available (ftp, telnet server (or ssh), etc.) my typical MO is to obtain the "latest & greatest" OS which is both free and readily supported by the system. however, if sys 7.6.1 is too bloated to run well on the IIfx, then another path is fine. thanks! christopher -- Vintage Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
